Schisandra (Schisandra chinensis)
A five-flavor berry used in traditional Chinese medicine as a liver tonic, adrenal adaptogen, and beauty herb. I include it here because the liver connection matters: your liver metabolizes and clears excess hormones, and when it's overburdened, hormonal imbalance often follows. Schisandra supports both the HPA axis and liver function, which makes it uniquely useful in this conversation.
Maca Root (Lepidium meyenii)
Maca works differently from the adaptogens above — it acts on the hypothalamus and pituitary directly, supporting the signaling at the top of the hormonal cascade. For symptoms like low libido, fertility support, menopausal transitions, and energy balance, it has a strong traditional record and growing clinical support.
